HRPP Drop-In

In this weekly planning and goal setting session, we'll practice ways to manage and keep track of the ALL THE THINGS. Our focus will be away from toxic productivity and toward regaining a sense of calm and care for ourselves in all aspects of our lives. Drop in once or multiple times for ideas and encouragement. Bring your preferred writing tools.

Creative Writing

Come exercise your creative writing skills in a supportive workshopping environment. We'll share a prompt or two, write for 20-30 minutes together, then talk about what we wrote. All experience levels and types welcome!

Start with Art

This is an opportunity to start your week creatively to draw and connect with others in a low stakes environment! There will be weekly prompts to guide inspiration, but you can also just work on your own projects if you are wanting to have a space to be held accountable in your creative endeavors within a supportive community. Supplies like watercolors, paint brushes, colored pencils and markers will be provided but feel free to bring in your own! Otherwise, no experience or materials necessary—just your lovely self!

Zotero Help

Come learn how to cite your sources correctly! We will learn all about how to use Zotero and why it's such a useful tool in graduate school and beyond! We will learn about the installation and practical uses of Zotero.

Counseling Q&A

Come sit in on an information session around how to find a counselor, how to contact them and how to find one that works with your insurance. This info session will be led by Colton Hoggarth, a mental health counseling student here at Western. If you can't make it during this time you can drop in any time he is on shift in the hub to ask whatever questions you may have around accessing counseling services.

Crafting in Canva Online Drop-in

Join this weekly virtual session for a deep dive into Canva! Get help with anything from themes and colors to technical tips and tricks that will help you make beautiful graphics and designs online. Covering both the premium and free versions, all skill levels are welcome to participate and ask questions!

Studio Drop-in, South Campus

Interdisciplinary Science Building with view of skybridge

The Hacherl Graduate Research and Writing Studio will be holding drop-in hours in hopes of reaching a larger population of students on campus. Graduate students are welcome to come to the hours for feedback and support on any step of the research or writing process. Thesis reviews, CV help, grant applications, and more! Come join us in the ISB Collaborative Space on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 every week through June 5th.

Writing Session

WWU graduate students working in the Kitto Grad Hub

Use this dedicated time to make progress on your writing and other work in a group setting. We'll briefly check in on our goals for the session and then dive into some timed sprints with breaks in between for encouragement and accountability. Bring whatever you're working on in any discipline!
