New Student Info Sessions

We offer Zoom info sessions for incoming graduate students. Learn about new student basics like setting up your accounts, registration, parking and housing in Bellingham, student services, and more. Bring your questions! Invitations for the Fall 2023 info session have been emailed.

Fall Orientation and Open House

The Graduate School offers online orientation materials on Canvas. This fall, we have an optional open house in the new Kitto Graduate Student Hub from 10:00 to 12:00 on Monday, September 25 and Tuesday, September 26. Grab some free coffee and tea, explore the new space, and find out more about graduate student resources and community.

Graduate School Resources and Information

This Canvas course is an online orientation and collection of resources that you can refer to throughout your time in graduate school at Western. Topics include student basics and campus resources; working with faculty; academic and career planning; impostor syndrome; finances; and more. You should automatically gain access to the course by the start of your first quarter.

Teaching Assistant Resources

This Canvas course for Graduate Teaching Assistants is set up as a primer for first time TA's, helping you to get started in the classroom or lab. TA's should be added automatically to the course, but if you don't have access please contact the Graduate School.

Responsible Conduct of Research

Graduate students conducting research as a Research Assistant or for a thesis or project may be required to complete appropriate training.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs administers these trainings.
