Program Information

Designed as an online program, Western’s MSW removes geographic and economic barriers for place-bound and working professionals across Washington. Students can remain in their home communities, engage in regionally relevant practicum placements, and join statewide learning cohorts that foster peer support, professional networks, and equitable access to advanced education.

The curriculum is aligned with the 2022 CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS) and built on an integrative competency model that centers anti-racist, anti-oppressive, decolonial, trauma-responsive, and community-engaged participatory practice.

By coupling rigorous graduate education with regionally responsive practicum placements and strong community partnerships, the program equips graduates to lead systems change, enhance access to quality care, and promote the well-being of Washington’s communities.

This program will begin in 2027. Application details coming soon.

Goals

This program prepares graduates for both advanced clinical and macro roles in behavioral health, child and youth services, school social work, community organizing, and policy leadership. Coursework and practicum education ensure that graduates demonstrate competency across the nine CSWE domains while addressing Washington-specific priorities, such as behavioral health integration, workforce retention, and equitable access to care.
